Lebara does not currently offer a dedicated NHS discount. There is no Blue Light Card partnership or NHS verification scheme on the Lebara website. NHS staff use the same publicly available SIM-only plans as all other customers. Any active promotional codes are listed in the deal section at the top of this page.

Does Lebara offer an NHS discount?

No NHS-specific or Blue Light Card discount is currently available directly through Lebara. That said, Lebara’s standard SIM-only plans are already priced competitively across most data tiers, and in some cases a standard Lebara plan may work out cheaper per month than a discounted plan elsewhere once the full contract length and data allowance are compared. Any current promotional codes available to all customers are listed above.

What Lebara offers

Lebara offers SIM-only plans on a rolling monthly or longer-term basis, covering a range of data allowances from modest to generous. Many plans include minutes to international destinations, which makes Lebara a practical choice for NHS staff with family or contacts abroad. There are no phone contracts on Lebara’s own platform, so bringing an existing handset and pairing it with a SIM-only plan is the standard approach.

What network does Lebara use?

Lebara runs on the Vodafone network in the UK, using Vodafone’s infrastructure while offering its own pricing and plans. Coverage broadly follows Vodafone’s footprint, which covers most of the UK. Checking postcode coverage on Lebara’s or Vodafone’s website before ordering is worthwhile, particularly for rural areas or specific hospital sites where indoor coverage can vary.

How Lebara compares with other budget networks

Lebara sits alongside several other value-focused SIM providers. Networks worth comparing include VOXI, Smarty, giffgaff, 1p Mobile and iD Mobile. Lebara’s strongest differentiator is international calling inclusion, while other networks may offer different data structures, rewards schemes or cashback options. The right choice depends on usage patterns and which network provides reliable coverage in the areas where the SIM will most often be used.

Switching to Lebara and keeping a number

Switching between UK networks is a standard process. A PAC code is requested from the existing provider and given to Lebara during sign-up, after which the number transfers across automatically on a chosen date. Monthly rolling SIMs can be cancelled with 30 days notice in most cases, making them a lower-risk option than a longer-term commitment. Checking whether a current handset is network-locked before ordering a new SIM avoids any compatibility issues on arrival.

For NHS-specific mobile deals, the Vodafone NHS discount gives staff 25% off selected plans, and the O2 NHS discount includes priority access benefits. The full range of mobile deals for NHS staff is on the mobile phones discounts page.
